To cheerier matters, and the loveable bag of bonkers fun that is Five's wildlife presenter, Nigel Marven. He's back for a new series, Jaguar Adventure with Nigel Marven, this time in quest of the elusive jaguar, a native of the Pantanal, Brazil's mega-marshland. It's surely a sufficiently formidable beast to make even nutty Marven think twice before wrestling it to the ground so that the camera might get a better look at one of his spots.

Luckily, we didn't have to find out the answer to that one: Marven couldn't find the jaguar in episode one. But he did find a false water cobra, which he got hold of and flung about a bit until the sensible creature sank its jaws into his hand until the blood gushed out in great red streams. "This is painful, the snake must be slightly venomous," Marven observed jovially.

It all made for highly amusing, snappy television.
